A light thermic on the last day allowed us only to complete the final medal race for the women but not for the men.
Palma CRO991 and Lina SLO51 had a “mano a mano” final style, as Sara HUN11 had gone over early on the first start. Palma managed to win it and scored impressively all wins at this regatta. Young Lina showed great competition mentality and great handling skills, definitely someone to watch on the near future. Sara had to settle to 3rd after the mistake on the final, but that mistake is now in the past and she is hungry to compete next week in Garda.
On the Men fleet, only the Semi final was run, in a light breeze of 6 to 7 kts. Robert Kubin SVK2 and Santa Bence HUN196 managed to advance to the final after a super tight first reach fight with Mate Bors HUN77. Mate came out his foil close to the 1st mark after having a lower line to it and getting overtaken by Robert and Santa, ending up falling to 8th overall.
The top two of the series, Francesco ITA353 and Luka CRO751 were waiting for the final, but after a couple of attempts, the wind just was too light, and it could not be run. So Francesco kept his 1st place, followed by Luka on 2nd and Robert on 3rd, wining the U21 division as well, followed by Matte Kossovics HUN401 in 2nd and Banfi Bine SLO44 on 3rd.
It was a great event with 12 done plus the medal race. We will definitely be coming back to Split.
