iQFOiL U23 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS: BRIGHT AND PILLONI STAY ON TOP AFTER AN UP-AND-DOWN DAY IN PUCK
Four more Slalom races completed in changing conditions as Bilger, Modena and Monaghan make their moves up the leaderboard
Puck, Poland – September 30, 2026 – It was a true up-and-down day on the water at the iQFOiL U23 World Championships in Puck, with changing conditions keeping sailors and the Race Committee busy throughout Day 3. In the end, four Slalom races were completed for each fleet, adding another important chapter to the battle for the U23 world titles.
In the Women’s fleet, Aimee Bright (NZL) continues to set the pace. The New Zealander added four more race wins to her scorecard to retain the overall lead after three days of competition. Maya Gysler (NOR) remains close behind in second, while there was a change in third place as Stella Bilger (AUS) moved onto the provisional podium, replacing Tuva Oppedal (NOR) in the top three.
In the Men’s fleet, Federico Alan Pilloni (ITA) continues his impressive run at the top of the standings. His scorecard is now so strong that, with the discard coming into play, the Italian is currently discarding a first place, underlining the consistency of his performance across the opening three days.
Behind Pilloni, however, the fight is getting tighter. Manolo Modena (ITA) climbed into second overall after an excellent day that included two race wins, strengthening the Italian presence at the front of the fleet.
Just one point behind Modena, Duncan Monaghan (GBR) moves into third overall, keeping the pressure firmly on as the championship heads towards its decisive stages.
After three days of racing and a mix of Course Racing and Slalom, the competition continues tomorrow on the Bay of Puck – and from Thursday the action will also be broadcast live, giving fans around the world the chance to follow the battle for the iQFOiL U23 World Championship titles as it happens.
