Thrilling Conclusions at the European Championships 2023

The iQFOiL Open European Championships came to an end yesterday with the prize-giving ceremony, marking the culmination of an action-packed week in Patras, Greece. This windsurfing extravaganza, organized in collaboration with local sailing club I.O.Patron and held at the scenic Porto Rio Hotel venue, will be etched in the annals of the sport's (still short) history.

The event witnessed intense competition, formidable skill, and unwavering determination as the athletes battled the elements and each other in their quest for glory. Patras unleashed its full force, treating participants to some of the windiest conditions ever experienced in the iQFOiL Class, adding an extra layer of excitement and challenge to the proceedings.

In the men's division, Nicolo Renna emerged as the triumphant champion, conquering the strong winds with finesse and sheer determination. Following his victory, Renna expressed his elation, saying, "Yeah, I'm super happy about this! Today's really strong wind was exhilarating and super nice. I'm really excited about the win. Congratulations to all the other guys; they had an amazing week. I had a fantastic day, but all the other guys really raced amazingly throughout the event."


Meanwhile, Mina Mobekk proved her mettle in the women's division, soaring to victory and etching her name in windsurfing history. Overwhelmed with joy, Mobekk exclaimed, "Wow, yes! I'm super happy to win the European Championships. I can't believe it yet; this is all just crazy." Her remarkable performance throughout the week showcased her skill, determination, and unwavering focus.


The iQFOiL Open European Championships was a stage where talent shone bright, and rivalries seamlessly coexisted with friendships. Beyond the fierce competition, the event fostered a sense of camaraderie among the athletes, forming an enduring bond within the windsurfing community.
