SUN AND SPEED: FULL DAY OF RACING AT iQFOiL EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIPS IN SFERRACAVALLO

Strong breeze and tight racing on Day 2 in Sicily

Sferracavallo, Palermo – November 25, 2025 – After a slow start on Day 1, conditions at the 2025 iQFOiL Senior European Championship came to life today in Sferracavallo. With sunshine and a solid breeze filling in across the racecourse, all fleets were able to complete five full course races, marking the first major shake-up in the standings.

In the Men’s fleet, Olympic Champion Tom Reuveny showed consistency across the board and sits still in the top spot overall. Hot on his heels is Great Britain’s Finn Hawkins, who delivered two standout race wins to secure second place in the provisional rankings.

“I won two races today, had two other good ones and one bad. It was windy out there, shifty and gusty, but it was a lot of fun and the racing was tight”, commented Finn Hawkings.

Following closely behind are France’s Nicolas Goyard in third and Britain’s reigning World Champion Andy Brown in fourth, both known for their tactical depth and racing prowess.

In the Women’s fleet, Olympic bronze medalist, and reigning World Champion, Emma Wilson (GBR) was the star of the day. With three race wins to her name, she now leads the overall standings after six races. Dutch rider Sara Wennekes followed up with a rock-solid performance and sits in second overall.

“Today we had a super good day. I'm happy we finished five races. I progressed over the day, trying to get this tricky wind, I get the feeling with the tricky wind, and I'm super happy and ready for more races the rest of the week”, said Sanna Wennekes.

With the sun shining and the leaderboard tightening, Day 2 delivered everything the sailors and fans had hoped for. And with more wind in the forecast, the competition is just heating up in Sicily.

Racing continues tomorrow with more racing on the schedule as the battle for the European title intensifies.
