Racing kicks of in Cadiz

Today marked day 1 of the iQGames #2 in Cadiz. It was the inaugural day of racing, and despite a less than promising forecast, we successfully launched all fleets onto the water. However, only the U17 girls' fleet fell short of completing the maximum of 4 races, managing only 3 due to a significant drop in wind during their final race, which never returned.

This event brings together all iQFOiL age groups, including the senior men and women, the U19 men and women, and the U17 boys and girls. It serves as an excellent opportunity for younger racers to connect with their role models and glean insights from the pros.

In the senior men's fleet, Noah Lyons (USA 6) dominated with three wins out of four races, securing a second-place finish in the last race. He leads the pack, followed closely by Polish sailors Michal Polak and Pawel Tarnowski in 2nd and 3rd place, respectively.

In the senior women's category, Norwegian Tuva Oppedal takes the lead with two 3rd places and two victories. She is trailed by Czech Katerina Svikova in 2nd place and Finnish sailor Aleksandra Blinnikka in 3rd.

Among the Women's U19 fleet, four Italians lead the charge, with Linda Oprandi seizing the top spot after day 1. She is followed by Carola Colasanto, Medea Falcioni, and Francesca Maria Salerno in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place, respectively. This event serves as a qualifier for the Sailing Youth World Championships for the Italian team, scheduled later this year.

In the men's U19 category, Igor Lewinski leads the rankings, chased by Frenchman Tom Nicolle and Italian Mattia Saoncella in 2nd and 3rd place.

In the U17 girls' fleet, Polish sailors Maria Rudowicz and Sofia Zarzecka clinch 1st and 2nd place, with Spanish Martina Borrás trailing closely behind.

In the U17 boys' fleet, Gustaw Trybak from Poland secures the top spot, followed by Dutchman Finn Brüll in 2nd place, and Blasco Arnica from Italy in 3rd.

Tomorrow heralds day 2 of this 5-day event.
