iQFOiL INTERNATIONAL GAMES CHAMPIONS CROWNED ON THRILLING FINAL DAY IN CÁDIZ

Lamadrid and Isaac take Senior titles as dramatic Medal Series decide the winners across all fleets

El Puerto de Santa María, Cádiz (Spain) – March 13, 2026 – The 2026 iQFOiL International Games #2, organized by the Federación Andaluza de Vela in co-operation with the International iQFOiL Class Association, by delegation of the Real Federación Española de Vela and the Consejo Superior de Deportes, concluded today in the waters of El Puerto de Santa María with an action-packed Medal Series that crowned the event champions across the Senior, U19 and U17 fleets.

Senior Women

The Senior Women’s Medal Series opened with a strong comeback from the Czech team. Sisters Barbara and Katerina Svikova (CZE) fought their way through both the Quarter Final and the Semi Final, earning their place in the Grand Final.

There they joined Nela Sadilkova (CZE) and local Olympic sailor Pilar Lamadrid (ESP). Lamadrid delivered a flawless performance in front of the home crowd, executing a perfect start and leading the race from start to finish to win her home event. Sadilkova secured second place, while Barbara Svikova completed the podium after an impressive climb through the finals.

“It is so nice to win here at home, it means a lot, as it's my first win in a really long time ago. So, I'm just feeling happy. The week has been amazing, with amazing conditions. It's a really good feeling before going to Palma, that will be the next goal. Just keep on trusting and going”, commented Pilar Lamadrid.

Senior Men

In the Senior Men’s fleet, Gunhak Choi (KOR) and Ethan Westera (ARU)advanced from the Quarter Finals to the Semi Finals. There they were overtaken by Rytis Jasiunas (LTU) and Makani Andrews (USA), who secured their places in the Grand Final.

In the final race, Mateus Isaac (BRA) and Noah Lyons (USA)quickly took control of the fleet. Isaac proved unstoppable, crossing the finish line first to secure overall victory. Two Americans completed the podium behind him, with Noah Lyons in second and Makani Andrews in third.

“To come out with a win here in Cádiz, it was a great, and a great event. It was just really cool. We were ready for some course racing, but at the end we did the downwind slalom, which was really cool. I had a really good start together with Noah, and we had a good fight for the first mark. And then I was leading, and just trying to control him a little bit, and I managed to win the event. So I’m really, really happy and it feels really, really good”, said Mateus Isaac.

U19 Women

In the U19 Women’s division, Zofia Zarzecka (POL) and Ruya Ugurlu (TUR)advanced from the Semi Final to the Grand Final.

Ugurlu started the decisive race strongly, but the key moment came at the first mark when Salomé Simon (FRA) opted for a jibe-set, a tactical move that proved decisive. The French sailor took control of the race and went on to win the event. Thea Le Borgne Zibetti (FRA)finished second after having led for the whole week, while Ruya Ugurlu (TUR)secured third place.

“It feels really amazing because I had a difficult week. I forgot my trackers the first day, so they took a lot of points off of me. And today, right before the medal, I broke my mast extension, and the Hong Kong girl gave me hers, so I was able to compete the grand final, and I won. And it just feels amazing, and I am so grateful for everyone who supported me this week, and really, it feels amazing to win this event”, Salomé Simon said at the prize giving.

U19 Men

In the U19 Men’s fleet, Finn Brüll (NED) won the Semi Final and advanced to the Grand Final together with Kfir Nov (ISR).

In the final race, Peyton Dits (NED) made a decisive move early and managed to control the race from the front, securing the overall victory.Jorge Ruiz Lopez (ESP)finished second, while Finn Brüll (NED)claimed third place.

“I'm feeling amazing. It was a super long week, super nice battles with the whole Dutch team and with Jorge, and all the others. It is super nice and I am glad for that. I want to thank my sponsors, really thank you for your help. And I want to thank my parents. And my school for helping me, letting me go racing all the time. And yeah, let's go, let's go, let's keep it going”, an excited Peyton commented after racing.

U17 Girls

The U17 Girls’ Medal Series saw a strong performance from the Polish team. Kalina Szostek (POL) advanced from the Quarter Final, while Maria Miarczynska (POL) and Martyna Figura (POL) won the Semi Final to reach the Grand Final.

In the first final race, Miarczynska overtook Parla Kabasakal (TUR) on the downwind and went on to win, forcing a second Grand Final.

In the deciding race, Miarczynska crossed the start line early and had to restart with a five-second delay. Her teammate Martyna Figurainitially took the lead after a strong start, but a mistake on the downwind allowed Parla Kabasakal to regain control and cross the finish line first to win the event. Anna Jannieke Korevaar (NED) finished second, while Maria Miarczynska (POL) fought back to secure third place.

“Today was the Middle East Day and I enjoyed it so much. I first came in second, then I finished first. It was really terrifying to be the second to start with, but then I pulled myself up and I was able to win the event”, said Parla Kabasakal.

U17 Boys

In the U17 Boys’ final, the top four sailors lined up exactly as they had in the rankings. Enric Patino Riutord (ESP) and Swann Manhaval (FRA) quickly showed why they had dominated the week, immediately moving to the front of the fleet.

Despite a late attempt to close the gap from Frantisek Burda (CZE), Enric Patino Riutord held the lead to the finish line and claimed the U17 Boys title.

After five days of competition, with all of the 16 races sailed across six fleets, the 2026 iQFOiL International Games #2 in Cádiz once again highlighted the strength and depth of the iQFOiL class. From Olympic-level battles in the Senior fleets to breakthrough performances from Youth and Junior sailors, the regatta brought together the global windfoil community in the dynamic waters of El Puerto de Santa María.
